After butting heads with his record label, Rusko decided to drop Mad Decent and take music from a different approach as an indepedent artist back in March. The issue arose after Mad Decent released a full stream of his record for free via their website without Rusko’s permission. Rusko was quoted saying “U fcking useless numbskulls @maddecent all the hard work keeping it off the radio, no djs, off YouTube, till release day was for nothing. Thanks.“
In all reality, the whole purpose of a record label is to help promote an artist and work with them hand in hand to develop and organize marketing strategies that will get their music the most exposure and hype as possible. I don’t think that it’s necessary for an artist at that level to have a label. Props to Rusko for being real and making a statement. O yeah, and here’s his brand new EP “KAPOW”. Enjoy!
