Rusko was in Colorado on 4/20 to kickstart his new tour at the Levitate Festival in Broomfield, CO at the 1stBank Center. DJ Shadow was the main opener for the evening. Shadow has been DJ’ing for over 27 years and it was great to see him live for the first time and he did not dissapoint. His stage set up was something original that I’ve yet to see, with a large projector screen backdrop with DJ Shadow in what appeared to be a giant sphere, which also was a projection screen. (Video)
His set varied in styles from hip-hop, to DnB, to some bass heavy dubstep. Overall, great opener and was a nice balance to the extremely bass heavy Rusko.
This was my 3rd time seeing Rusko and he has never failed to dissapoint. My favorite thing about him is his on stage energy. I love how he is getting down harder than about 90% of the crowd and the dude does not stop moving the entire set. I took this video of “Somebody to Love“, and had to zoom in a couple times because I wanted to get a shot of his dance moves. It was an energy filled set which included his big hits “Cockney Thug”, “Everyday”, “Hold On”, and some of my personal favorties off the new album “Opium“, and “Skanker“. If this set was any indication of what is to come on the upcoming tour, you should definitely check him out when he heads to your town. -Nosok
