Q: First off, tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? Take us back to when it all started…

A: UK, based in London. I began making music as a composer, learning to write music before I learned production or sound engineering. I got into making electronic music after entering for a remix contest. It was for Fckn Crews “Discoke”. The track was of the “Trash Electro” genre, a type of music I hadn’t even heard of before. It was my first remix and I had no idea what I was doing, so I just changed the track as much as I possibly could, writing a melodic lead and adding elements of trance. After the online reaction I got from people who had heard the track, I decided to try and make a go of electronic music. Haven’t looked back since…

Q: How would you describe your sound?

A: “Electronic”. I have a short attention span and I am fortunate enough to have no constraints on what style and what techniques I use to make the music. As a result, the sound changes hugely. I like to make 8bit/moombah/dubstep/electro/hip hop.

Q: You plan on doing a tour here in the U.S.?

A: There are no solid plans as of yet. I would love to tour America (it’s all part of the dream), but I would need to become more famous. The lack of money is a killer when it comes to getting out into the world and playing for strangers.

Q: What’s the story behind the name “Bullwack”

A: I needed a name to put to the first remix, not expecting to ever use it for anything, I just put down the first name I could think of.

Q: Are you currently working on an EP?

A: I have one or two projects in the works. I have an EP without a release date that is nearing completion, and I should have a track on the first MFM Compilation EP. My problem is that I hate sitting on tracks. I hate making something, sending it to record labels and waiting for responses. I’m usually so impatient that I just throw the track up on my soundcloud for free.

Q: What’s the toughest obstacle you’ve come across since you’ve been producing?

A: Trying to explain how I make music to people who don’t understand music production. There is nothing more frustrating than explaining to your grandfather that “No, the computer does not make the music for me. It takes hours of hard work!”

Q: How has electronic music made an impact in your life?

A: I am much cooler than I used to be. Before I was making music that my friends would actually listen to, people thought my sporadic behavior was weird, now it’s “artistic”

Q: How do you go about choosing the songs you remix?

A: I like challenges. I like remixing music that has one special element that I can keep and let the rest fall away, filling the gaps left with my own ideas. I choose most of the songs I remix by looking for music where one aspect of the track is beautiful by itself, as with the Adele and Gotye remixes.

Q: What’s next for Bullwack?

A: I have no idea, which is something I find quite exciting

Q: What are some of your goals coming up in the near future?

A: I want to play live more. The production is good fun and I love reading comments and stuff on the internet, but I want to get out and see the world and let the world see me….
